The Ferry First Mersey Crossing

It would be good to look back
to eight hundred years ago,
to see the Monks row people across the Mersey
to help Liverpool grow.
With it's lovely Dales and Valleys green
a marvellous sight to be seen
the Mersey so clean
when fish
were there to be seen.

When business people decided to invest
the hard work came for the very best.
The eight hundred years have taken its toll
but hopefully regeneration
is on a roll.

I will always wonder
but not be able to wait
If Liverpool’s future will still be there
In Two Thousand Eight Hundred and Eight.
