Liverpool Heart, Dublin Soul

Liverpool heart, Dublin soul
We got rock, we got roll
Where she flocked, I would go
Liverpool heart, Dublin soul

I always used to play it safe
Til she came along and rattled my case
She was a girl like no other
My monochrome world to technicolour
Boat or plane we didn’t mind
Used to do it all the time
Then came the day I made the leap
Jumped into Ireland on my feet

A new clean slate I’d been fed
Never cared what people said
Life and attitude to burn
At 31, I got my turn
From Liverpool, I’d been torn
But she made me feel reborn
Snap decisions at everything
Within a month, she wore a ring

Time moved fast, and we moved more
We got a flat on the first floor
A habitat, our new den
No sneaking round my digs again
We worked hard, and partied too
There was nothing we couldn’t do
Life was great, on top of the world
At night we’d sleep and kiss and curl

We always lived beyond our means
Didn’t believe it’d shatter our dreams
No money, no jobs, it wasn’t cool
So we got the boat back to Liverpool
And she missed home from the first day
Then we each started pulling a different way
We ended at all on a week in Greece
Then she went back to Dublin to find her peace

Liverpool heart, Dublin soul
We got rock, we got roll
Where she flocked, I would go
Liverpool heart, Dublin soul
Liverpool heart, Dublin soul…
