The 'March for Jobs' 1981

I was on this
Me and thousands of others
Without money without jobs
Without a voice
We met up at Sefton Park
Huddled into groups
Ignored the bizzies
And made new friends
Despite the anger
In each throat
It was a peaceful protest
The cries of
"MAGGIE MAGGIE MAGGIE
OUT OUT OUT"
Filled the sky
All the way down to the pierhead
The banners and cardboard placards
Held proudly aloft
No more work experience rip offs
No more YOP schemes
The BBC gave us a minute on the news
Blink and you would miss us
But I have a lifetime of memories
I was there.
