Arena, Liverpool’s New Cathedral

Not often I am stunned into silence
by the sense of being held
in precious space
so vast it takes my breath away,
yet
still feel so comfortable

Liverpool's new Cathedral
two heraldic shells
cast up on Mersey's shore
to decorate her coat of arms
a
Protection of Providence
symbol of her new beginning.

At last future technology for the twenty first century
pulling the heart of Liverpool
back to the river
where it always belonged.

Liverpool reborn,
baptised again in faith and hope
and as
masses from across the globe return
to congregate in this our new Cathedral
re-charging our city
revitalising its energy
we can do
what we’ve always done best.

Give welcome to our guests.
