Now and Then

There it lies, see!
proud Liverpool.
A symbol of the trade
in their cursed
Empire.

We few, so far
from our home,
can strike at the heart
of that seaport’s
commerce.

Our blow will ring
all around
the globe, so oppressed
by these wicked
imperialists.

They will come to know
that we will
never be cowed in the quest
for freedom and
our liberty.

We will sow terror.
at Liverpool’s
example all England
will learn to fear
and dread us.

As our eighteen
pounders
wreck quays and wharves
from here in the
river Mersey.

So, bold lads, follow
Cap’n John P Jones
and the Bonhomme Richard!
Heroes all, from
far Amerikey.
