Ye shall buy bond-men and bond-maids

Raymund Harris
expelled Spanish priest,
moved to Liverpool in 1773.
Sought the word of God to defend the slave trade,
rewarded by Liverpool Corporation,
a hundred quid to show appreciation that
God says ye shall buy bond-men and bond-maids
so thereís nothing wrong with owning slaves.

His money didnít last long.
Thrown out of his ministry,
for fiddling the offertory ,
he died in 1789.
God speaks in mysterious ways.
