My Liverpool

Although I may have strayed
And lead an exiled life
My soul is anchored to your heart
My Liverpool
Although I dallied
Far away in lands beyond the reach
Of Mersey’s mists
There never was a day
I didn’t think of you
My Liverpool.
For when I left
I took with me your warmth and wit
A steely pride which never let the world
Succeed in bending me
Or toying with my dignity
My soul is anchored to your heart
My Liverpool.
