They came here from Ireland

In hope of a new life
Free from strife
Some to other lands have gone
Others too weak to carry on
They died board ship in their fever bed
Thousands died in the fever shed
Never to reach the Mersey Bay
Never to see another day
In fever pits buried deep
The living stand aside and weep
Never to suffer any more
The pain gone they endured before
Those that survived will carry on
To tell the horrors of those now gone.
